# 486 Buyer Searches Reveal What The AI Video Market Actually Wants In 2026

2026-09-25 · CarlosGanzales69

Most pricing pages and "best AI video generator" lists are written from opinion. We wanted data, so we ran a demand study instead: **486 distinct search queries** collected from live autocomplete APIs during September 2026, clustered by intent and scored for commercial value. This article publishes the raw structure of that dataset — what people type when they are deciding whether to buy AI video, what they ask before they spend money, and where the gaps are that no generator tool answers well.

**The short answer:** 36% of all collected queries are already commercial in intent, 17% name a generator by category, and 16.5% are explicitly about price. Informational queries dominate in volume (271 of 486) but commercial queries carry the highest average opportunity score (84.1 vs 54.7). Price questions are the single most underserved cluster — "ai video cost per minute", "ai video cost per second", "ai video editing cost", "ai movie production cost" — and they are exactly the questions a commissioned studio answers on its pricing page.

## Methodology

* **Source:** live search-autocomplete suggestion APIs, queried continuously by our keyword miner between 1 and 25 September 2026.
* **Deduplication:** 464 raw suggestions resolved to 486 stored keywords after clustering; every keyword is stored once with a cluster label and a 0–100 opportunity score.
* **Clustering:** keywords were assigned to `info`, `commercial`, `listicle`, or `niche18` clusters based on the modifiers present (how/what/why vs buy/hire/order/best/vs vs list patterns vs 18+ intent).
* **Scoring:** composite of intent strength, specificity and competitive gap. Anything under 55 is treated as not worth a dedicated page.

| Score band | Keywords | Share |
| --- | --- | --- |
| 80–100 (strong) | 193 | 39.7% |
| 55–79 (usable) | 226 | 46.5% |
| Under 55 (parked) | 67 | 13.8% |

## Finding 1: Commercial intent is one third of the market

| Cluster | Keywords | Avg. score |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Informational (how/what/why) | 271 | 54.7 |
| Commercial (buy/hire/order/best/vs) | 178 | 84.1 |
| Listicle ("best X" roundups) | 27 | 79.1 |
| 18+ niche intent | 10 | 69.0 |

174 of 486 queries — **35.8%** — contain an explicit buying or comparison modifier: `buy`, `hire`, `order`, `commission`, `best`, `top`, `vs`, `alternative`, `review`. Those queries average a score of 84.1, far above informational queries at 54.7. In practice this means a small set of pages carries most of the revenue potential, which is why we publish comparison and pricing pages rather than another wave of definitional articles.

Top-scoring commercial queries in the dataset:

* best cheap ai video generator
* best custom ai video generator
* buy ai videos
* buy ai video generator
* ai video cost
* ai video cost per minute

Note the recurring pair **"custom" + "generator"**: buyers are not only looking for a self-serve tool, they are looking for something made for them. That distinction is the entire basis of a commissioned studio.

## Finding 2: Price is the most underserved question

80 queries — **16.5%** — are explicitly about money. They fragment into a long tail nobody answers directly:

`ai video cost` · `ai video cost per minute` · `ai video cost per second` · `ai video cost in india` · `ai video editing cost` · `ai video editing software cost` · `ai video generator cost` · `ai movie making cost` · `ai movie production cost`

Two observations:

1. **Per-unit framing dominates.** People think in cost per minute and cost per second, not in project budgets. A studio that publishes a per-minute anchor converts that framing instead of fighting it.
2. **Regional modifiers appear early.** "in india" already shows up in the cost cluster, which means price-sensitive traffic is being segmented geographically before it ever reaches a pricing page.

For reference, our own published packages are $94 for 30 seconds, $150 for 30–60 seconds and $250 for 60+ seconds with a 7-day delivery window — i.e. roughly $3–10 per finished second, all revisions included, which sits below the per-minute cost of any traditional production quote we have seen.

## Finding 3: Generators are a commodity, commissions are the gap

87 queries (17.9%) contain the word `generator`, and 69 (14.2%) contain `anime`. Yet the dataset contains almost no queries describing the *service* shape of the market: how a brief becomes a video, how many revisions are normal, what a 7-day delivery actually contains, what "custom" means when there is no template library behind it.

That is a content gap rather than a demand gap — the demand shows up as `buy ai videos`, `commission`, `custom` and `hire`, which are all present in the data. It also explains why long-tail comparison content outperforms head terms here: a head term like "ai video generator" is owned by the tools themselves, while "custom ai video production" or "ai video cost per minute" is still open.

## Finding 4: Informational volume is a top-of-funnel pool, not a revenue pool

271 informational queries sit at an average score of 54.7 — below our own publishing threshold. That does not make them worthless; it makes them cheap to serve at scale and expensive to chase individually. The working approach:

* Publish **one** deep page per question cluster, not one page per near-duplicate phrasing (dedupe by intent: "best cheap X" and "best and cheap X" are the same page).
* Gate every generated page on uniqueness against its nearest sibling, minimum length, schema markup and at least three internal links.
* Route informational readers to a pricing or portfolio page through internal links rather than hoping they convert from an article.

## What we do with this data

1. **Publish commercial and price pages first** — highest score per unit of content.
2. **Answer price questions with real numbers** — per-minute, per-second and per-package anchors on the pricing page, mirrored in the cost articles.
3. **Keep the topical boundary tight** — queries that only share the word "video" (video games, costume changes, software resale) are excluded from generation; off-topic pages on a young domain cost more than they earn.
4. **Re-mine monthly** — autocomplete shifts, and 45% of AI-assistant citations are replaced between identical queries, so a static keyword list decays.

The dataset behind this article is our own; the methodology is reproducible with any autocomplete source. If you want the same study for a different vertical, the clustering and scoring rules are the part worth copying — the numbers are only useful because they came from a real market.
